Drug Addiction Treatment for Complete Recovery

Drug addiction is a complex brain disease that fosters compulsive drug abuse. Continuous consumption of drug leads to changes in the structure and function of the brain. Generally people start taking drugs for fun or due to peer pressure. Eventually it becomes a habit and the addict is unable to restrain himself from drug consumption. Gender, ethnicity, friends and environmental factors instigate drug addiction. The most challenging task for the drug rehab center is to help the patient recover without relapse.

Drug addiction can have detrimental effects on the health and mind of a person. The drug rehabilitation centers aim to heal the patients physically, mentally and spiritually. Some of the services provided by the drug rehabilitation center are as follows:

  • Customized addiction treatment protocols
  • Medical detox and drug withdrawal management
  • Relapse prevention program
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Individual and group therapy
  • Dual diagnosis treatment
  • Meditation
  • Yoga and art therapy
  • Recreational therapy

Drug addiction recovery centers have experienced physicians and psychiatrists to identify the core issues related to drug addiction. The treatment generally begins with the process of detoxification, in which the toxins are removed from the body of the patient. The process is carried on under the guidance of doctors and nurses.

Drug prevention programs help the people to be aware of the severe effects of drug addiction. Often the patients feel guilty and ashamed of themselves. Drug rehab centers treat them with respect and dignity. They help them to live a balanced life. Support from the family members can do wonders. Family members should participate in the rehab process to help their loved ones quit this habit.

Help answer the question about drug therapy management

Depression, therapy and insurance?
I suffer from a combination of obsessive-compulsive disorder and depression. I have been seeing a psychiatrist for the last six years but I recently decided to switch because the doctor is no longer helpful and is quite belligerent now. I really suffer and the depression gets worse in the evenings causing me to go into a state of complete apathy and sadness. I want to get help but I am not sure how. I made an appointment with a psychologist and although he was very nice, I didn’t feel his style would be helpful. I really need someone to talk to and work out these problems. What makes the situation worse is I have an HMO and my mental health benefits are managed separately by a carve-out company. There are only certain doctors I can see and this carve-out company treats me like crap and shames me. But I can’t afford to pay for therapy on my own and I don’t know what to do. On top of this, I have been seeing a doctor at a university for medical management of medication including an investigational drug I have been taking for my OCD. Now that the study is over, I can no longer see the doctor, but I need the specialized management. My insurance will not cover me seeing him. I don’t know what to do, I know I need help. Is there a way to get my insurance to let me see who I need to and to stop putting me on hold for extended periods each time I call and to get them to stop ‘loosing my papers?’

How do I get better when I can’t even see the doctors I need to? How do I find a therapist that has a style that works for me and that is covered by my insurance and not fifty miles away. Pleas help me. I don’t know how much longer I can take this.
